Bingo win causes rift between sisters

Three sisters have ended up in a court battle over a £50,000 bingo win.

The siblings from Liverpool play bingo together often and had their night of good fortune in June 2007, playing at the Buckingham Bingo Palace. Eldest sister Edna, 59, won the jackpot on her National Game ticket, as the three played together on a night out. However, their joy soon turned to sour grapes.

Younger sisters Linda, 53, and Doreen, 57, claim that the three always shared prizes and had an oral agreement to do so. When Edna apparently went back on the agreement and refused to split the big prize, her two sisters were outraged, and decided to start legal proceedings.

Linda and Doreen are claiming £16,666 each plus interest as their rightful share.

Edna claims that they only agreed to share prizes under £1,000, but her sisters fiercely deny this version of the agreement.

Whatever the outcome of the trial, it seems unlikely that these three sisters will ever play bingo together again.

Sadly, this is not the first case of a big win causing a rift between friends or family members.
